Nearby

Our home is 6 miles (a 10 minute drive) from the centre of York. It is a 5 minute drive from York's outer ring road and the A19.

York is an incredible city with a rich Viking, Roman and Medieval heritage to explore. York Minster, the Yorvik Centre, the Yorkshire Museum, York Art Gallery are obvious tourist attractions, but it is a beautiful city to browse unhurriedly with large open green spaces, riverside walks, quirky independent shops, cafes and restaurants. It has a rich and vibrant cultural life with multiple theatres and almost daily musical concerts. However at different times of the year there are wonderful festivals to explore such as the York Festival of Ideas (where the university opens it doors and invites renowned academics and speakers from around the world to share their knowledge with the general public), the York Short Film Festival and the York Literature Festival. Over the Christmas Season, there are few places more beautiful than York to soak up the seasonal ambiance and do Christmas shopping.

Further Afield

York is also the perfect base from which to explore beautiful Yorkshire. National Trust and English Heritage treasures surround us, Castle Howard and the Yorkshire Arboretum are a short drive away and the Yorkshire Moors and Yorkshire Dales with incredible nature walks, stately homes and picturesque Yorkshire villages all on our doorstep.

The seaside towns of Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay are perfect for day trips and for city lovers, if York is not enough, Harrogate and Leeds are a short distance away.

Our house is more suitable for drivers or cyclists, but there are buses into York and further afield from the nearby village approximately 15 minutes walk away.
